Evaluating News Sources
Being able to determine whether or not a news source is fake is very important these days. As we've seen recently, it is getting more difficult to tell what is legitimate and what isn't. Here are some tips to combat fake news.
Things to ask yourself when you're looking at an article:
-
Who is the author/producer/creator of the message? Can you contact them with a question about their piece?
-
Who is the audience?
-
What techniques are being used to get our attention and to make the message believable?
-
Who benefits from the message?
-
Who or what is omitted and why?
You can also follow the C.A.R.S. or C.R.A.P Research methods of verifying sources.
